Theory offers us a foundation on which to build our understanding of the work that we do as career development practitioners. It provides a framework and a context for working with clients and helps us understand why we do what we do. It also assists us in identifying what it is that we believe is important in the career development process and thus it informs our practice on a daily basis.
In this course you will survey the progression of the field from the human development models of twentieth century psychologists to the development of five main streams of career development theory and you will identify the strengths and weaknesses of these models.
There will be opportunity to reflect on your own career experiences.
