Course Description

No matter what you aim to accomplish, you will need to gain trust, acceptance, and cooperation from other people to achieve it.  That’s what the art of persuasion is all about – motivating others to want what you want and take action – in an ethical and non-manipulative manner.

The average person attempts to influence 100 or more people a day, however, most of us use only one or two approaches repeatedly with limited results. Being able to persuade others is a critical communication skill, high in demand in today’s work environments. 

This evidence-based course will demonstrate how persuasion and influence really work. Learn simple techniques to increase your personal impact and change your world for the better, both ethically and subtly.

Notes

The course will be offered over a 4-week period. Reading assignments will be completed prior to classes 2 – 4.  Each reading assignments is approximately 30 – 60 minutes in length.

Recommended For

This course is for those who would like to learn to apply the principles and best practices of persuasion and influence to gain cooperation, trust, and commitment from others.  Examples from workplace, community, and family/friend settings will be discussed.
