Course Description

This online self-paced course is 18 hours.

What is the story revealed by the data? How can I verify hunches? How can I identify evidence-based critical process ‘Xs’ that drive process outcomes?
Through a blend of reading, presentations, practical examples, practice, and feedback, learners will learn to use process maps, lean tools, data, hypothesis testing, regression analysis, and employee input to identify root causes of process problems.

The course covers all of the information the learner needs to know to be successful, including user-friendly illustrated walkthroughs of each step of statistical analysis using Minitab software; learners are not required to do math by hand. This course is a prerequisite for the hands-on Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Capstone course, during which tools will be applied to a simulated Lean Six Sigma project.

Course Outline

•    Process analysis using Lean tools
•    Developing root cause theories
•    Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
•    Graphical analysis using Minitab
•    Hypothesis testing using Minitab
•    Correlation and Regression using Minitab
•    Fundamentals of Design of Experiments (DOE)

What You Will Learn

•    Explain the role of a ‘vital X’ on process performance
•    Apply lean tools to process analysis to identify root cause theories
•    Choose the right graphical and statistical tools for process screening and analysis
•    Use correlation and regression to reveal relationships between process inputs and outputs
•    Identify ‘vital Xs’ in a process using graphical and statistical tools
•    Describe how to set up a Design of Experiments to verify ‘vital Xs’

Recommended For

Ideal for those new to Lean Six Sigma, as well as for White or Yellow Belts who want to deepen their knowledge, this course is suitable for individuals working in business, healthcare, manufacturing, government, and service industries. Those who complete all courses and the exam in the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification program will be qualified to lead well-scoped Lean Six Sigma projects.
