Course DescriptionOur Master Gardener Courses are Online, Independent Study Courses. Students work at their own pace and have 6 months to complete all course assignments and quizzes.
What You Will LearnThis class will give you the upper hand in getting the garden that you want. You will examine common gardening practices - looking at what they are, how they are done and why. You will develop environmentally sound strategies to manage weeds, insects and diseases in your garden.

Technical Requirements: Internet (High Speed preferred)
Course Dates: Courses start three times a year, October 1, November 15, and February 1st. The registration deadline is one week prior to the start of each course date. Students who register for their courses on October 1st and November 15th are be eligible for a course extension. Students who begin courses on February 1st are not eligible for course extensions.
Number of Courses: Students are to take ONE course at a time per intake, unless otherwise approved by Extended Learning.
Refunds: Course refunds are eligible up until the registration deadline. After the registration deadline, there are no course refunds.
PrerequisitesIt is recommended that the Master Gardener Program Courses be taken in the following order:
- The Science of Gardening
- Maintaining the Garden
- Plant ID and Use
- The Art of Gardening
Master Gardener Summer School is offered for the first full week in July. This year it is July 6-10, 2020! The Summer School is a requirement to become an Atlantic Master Gardener and can be taken at any point throughout the certificate.
