Course Description

In this course, you will learn the basic concepts of light-curing applied to your clinical practice. You will understand the difference between monowave and multiwave curing lights and their clinical implication according to the different light-cured materials in the market. And last, you will understand how to read manufacturers’ labels and instructions and avoid misleading advertising.

What You Will Learn

At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to: 

  • Understand the difference between the different current curing lights in the market (monowave x multiwave);
  • Identify the differences between different light-cured materials (composites/cements) in the market and their clinical implications;
  • Understand how to read manufacturers’ labels and instructions and not fall for marketing hypes.

Instructor: Dayane Oliveira, DDS, MS, PhD

Dr. Oliveira is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Restorative Dental Sciences at the University of Florida. She has a master’s degree in Operative Dentistry and Ph.D. degree and a post-doctoral training in Dental Biomaterials. Dr. Oliveira has devoted her teaching experience and her private practice to Restorative and Esthetic Dentistry for the last 12 years. Dr. Oliveira wrote six international book chapters, including topics on color selection, color matching, light curing and diagnosis in Operative Dentistry. Dr. Oliveira has a research background in color science and composites’ development which contributed to several patents and dental products development. Her most recent and pioneer research involves the development of dental light cured materials using long wavelengths, such as red light
