The Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt program equips program graduates with the knowledge and tools to lead process improvement initiatives and drive measurable results within their organizations. Offered through a flexible hybrid model, the program consists of four online courses that follow the Lean Six Sigma DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze & Improve, Control) framework, followed by a three-day in-person capstone course.

Through presentations, hands-on exercises, case studies and feedback, participants will learn to identify root causes of inefficiency, reduce waste, improve quality, and apply data-driven decision-making techniques (prior knowledge of statistics is not required). The capstone experience consolidates these skills, providing a realistic environment in which to apply Lean Six Sigma tools to a simulated improvement project, thereby preparing participants for both workplace implementation and certification success.

Courses

The following courses must be completed in sequence to complete this certificate:

Learning Outcomes

  • Apply Lean Six Sigma principles and the DMAIC framework to analyze and improve processes.
  • Utilize key tools, including process mapping, cause-and-effect analysis, statistical methods, mistake-proofing, and control charts, to identify and eliminate waste and variation.
  • Collect and analyze data to make informed, evidence-based decisions.
  • Lead and facilitate cross-functional improvement projects with measurable business impact.
  • Sustain process improvements through effective control and monitoring systems.
  • Prepare for Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification and confidently lead improvement initiatives within their organization.

Topics Covered

  • Lean Six Sigma Foundations and Define Phase: Principles, roles, project selection, voice of the customer, high-level process descriptions, basic process metrics, problem statements, and project charters
  • Measure Phase: Process mapping, data collection, measurement system analysis, and sigma level calculations
  • Analyze Phase and Improve Phase: Root cause analysis using graphical analysis, hypothesis testing, regression analysis, foundations of designed experiments, solution design, piloting, and implementation planning
  • Control Phase: Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), standardization, process control, visual management, and sustainment
  • Capstone Workshop: Integrated project simulation, coaching, and certification preparation
  • Minitab statistical software will be provided, taught step-by-step, and used throughout the program.  Very few calculations will be performed by hand.

Who Should Take This Certificate?
