The Certificate in Gaming Leadership is offered fully online, with two required courses and two electives. The certificate is offered jointly by Dalhousie University and the  Association of Certified Gaming Compliance Specialists (ACGCS).

What Will You Learn?

This certificate provides a comprehensive overview of the skills and knowledge required for leaders in today’s casino and iGaming environments. The two required courses cover essential topics in casino and iGaming compliance, as well as strategies for promoting responsible gaming and developing player protection measures. Participants can then explore other topics of interest for those in the industry with a choice of two electives.

Who Should Take This Certificate?

The Certificate in Gaming Leadership is intended for a wide range of casino and regulatory staff, including those in operations, strategy, and relationship management.

The Certificate in Gaming Leadership can help you:

  • Understand the legal casino and iGaming landscape.
  • Gain an awareness of risks faced by casino and iGaming operators.
  • Gain the ability to implement responsible gaming and player protection practices.
  • Enhance skills and knowledge in other relevant areas such as corporate social responsibility, leadership, ethics, strategy, and risk assessment and management.

Certificate Requirements

The certificate consists of four (4) courses over at least 120 hours.

The two required courses (48 hours) are:

  • OLCD-POLC0025 Casino Gaming Investigations 
  • OLCD-POLC0026 Responsible Gaming and Player Protection

You can select two electives (of at least 72 hours) from the options below:

  • OLCD-CSRC0010 Corporate Social Responsibility (42 hours)
  • OLCD-PALS0012 Leadership Dynamics (36 hours)
  • OLCD-PALS0013 Ethics in Action (36 hours)
  • OLCD-PALS0014 Mastering Strategy (36 hours)
  • OLCD-PALS0020 Risk Assessment and Management (36 hours)

The courses can be completed in any order.

Fees and Schedule

Tuition fees for the courses in this certificate vary according to the degree of interactivity and corresponding course hours. See each course for the applicable tuition fee. Each course is offered at least once a year.

Do you have prior learning or experience relevant to this certificate?

It may be possible to receive advanced standing in this certificate based on your prior learning from work or life experience. We provide two types of recognition of prior learning:

  • Prior Certified Learning: Assessment of prior coursework or training through a provider, that is neither a university or college, for the purpose of advanced standing. Examples of certified learning may include military courses, accredited certificates, workplace training programs, etc.
  • Prior Experiential Learning: Assessment of previous work and life learning that may be equivalent to learning outcomes of university courses / programs, for the purpose of advanced standing. Relevant prior learning may come from work or volunteer experience, participation on committees or boards, independent study, etc.
