Presented by the Atlantic Tech Transfer Team for Apiculture and Extended Learning, Fundamentals of Beekeeping is a fully online program that provides production skills and beekeeping knowledge timed specifically to the annual beekeeping cycle for both new and experienced beekeepers alike. Fundamentals of Beekeeping will give you the skills and knowledge to expand your operation and prepare you to become a successful commercial beekeeper.

To acquire the Fundamentals of Beekeeping certificate, you must successfully complete all four courses below with a final grade of 70% or higher. For further information about each course, navigate through the menu to the right, or, click on the links below.

All courses include synchronous (live) and asynchronous (on your own) learning. There is one live session on each weeknight of the course; specific times for the live sessions will be communicated well in advance. Textbooks will be provided. There will be an in-person apiary tour on the Saturday. These tours will take place across the four Atlantic provinces, one per course.

Who Should Attend

Suitable for anyone whose primary responsibility and interest is the care and progression of a beekeeping operation. Apiary persons, hobbyists 
and upcoming commercial beekeepers looking to improve skills are encouraged to enroll.

Eligible participants may qualify for funding through the Canada Job Grant Program. Please contact your provincial partner for more information.
