Course Description
This course will help participants to foster genuine connection and empathy-driven action by developing humility, vulnerability, and compassion in organizational relationships.
Course Outline
- Explore Hougaard’s model of empathy and Brown’s vulnerability framework
- Develop cultural intelligence for understanding diverse backgrounds,
- Examine social dominance theory and the systemic nature of bias
- Focus on active listening techniques
What You Will Learn
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
- understand how compassion translates to equitable outcomes and better overall team dynamics;
- understand the relational dynamics in power and marginalization;
- create safe spaces that welcome diverse voices and ideas, and build trust.
Microcredential
This course provides learners with the opportunity to earn a microcredential. A microcredential is evidence of a skill or competency that is employment related. Dalhousie microcredentials are developed in collaboration with employers, industries, and/or organizations that relate to the content. A microcredential can be displayed on social media pages, digital resumes, personal webpages, and in email signatures. To earn the microcredential in this course, learners will need to successfully complete a competency-based assessment.
