DAY 1 - Surgical foundation to prosthetic planning (AM Lecture In-Person)

Managing extraction sites to optimize future dental implant placement presents both clinical and biological challenges. This comprehensive, evidence-based course is led by two board-certified periodontal surgeons — experts in periodontal surgery, ridge augmentation procedures, and biomaterials — and is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and clinical skills needed for predictable ridge preservation and augmentation outcomes.
The didactic component will delve into the fundamental principles of bone grafting, biomaterial selection, and barrier membrane use. Participants will gain a deep understanding of grafting materials, membrane characteristics, and suturing techniques, with a focus on decision-making protocols tailored to individual clinical scenarios. Key surgical techniques will be reviewed, including alveolar ridge preservation, guided bone regeneration (GBR), and horizontal and vertical ridge augmentation. Common complications and their management strategies will also be discussed in detail.

This section represents the Lecture In-Person part of the course.
You can choose to take it solely, without the hands-on session and so, by adding this section you would have registered for the Lecture In-Person only.
If you wish to take the hands-on version, please scroll down and add DNTL-DENT0202-003 to your cart before checking out.

At the end of the course, attendees will be able to:
  • Understand the fundamental biology of bone remodeling and resorption as it relates to post-extraction healing and future implant placement.
  • Identify and classify alveolar ridge defects in edentulous sites to determine appropriate treatment strategies for implant site development.
  • Evaluate and differentiate between various bone graft materials and barrier membranes, including their biological properties, indications, and handling techniques.
  • Learn how to effectively combine grafting materials and membranes for optimized regenerative outcomes.
  • Recognize potential complications associated with ridge preservation and augmentation procedures and apply evidence-based management strategies.
