Course Description

As a beginner to the art of welding, you will learn theory, technique and shop practice for arc and MIG welding. You’ll also get hands-on experience as you work on projects from start to finish.

  • proper cutting torch techniques

Notes

What to wear: We remind you that sparks and fire are a hazard of welding and may damage clothing. Please ensure that clothing is flame retardant and appropriate for this working environment. Ideal clothing would be denim pants and a long sleeved shirt. Leather CSA approved safety footwear is mandatory in the Dalhousie laboratory for welding. Inappropriate footwear will not be permitted. Eye protection, gloves, and lab coats will be provided. 

Evaluation

A written test and a practical test will be administered at the end of the course. Upon successful completion, students will receive a certificate of completion.
