Course Description
This course covers the following components of insulation and interior within a residential structure including thermal insulation, vapour retarders, ventilation systems of attics, crawl spaces, roof assemblies, and interior spaces, walls, ceilings, floors, doors and windows, steps, stairways, landings, and railings, installed countertops and cabinets, garage doors and door operators.
Course Outline
Each week has required readings from the textbook. There are a total of five assignments and two examinations in this course.
- Weeks 1-7: Insulation and Ventilation
- Week 8: Mid-term Examination
- Week 9: Interiors - Part 1
- Weeks 10-11: Interiors - Part 2
- Week 12: Final Examination
What You Will Learn
- Conduct proper home insulation and interior inspections and identify safety concerns and other issues
- Identify the common problems that apply to each insulation/interior component named as well as the causes and implications of each problem
- Describe the inspection procedures involved with each component
- Define and use proper terminology related to residential insulation and interiors

By enrolling in this course, you will be automatically enrolled in the Certificate in Home Inspection.
