Course Description

This online course is 18 learning hours over six weeks, including 4.5 hours of live online sessions. It is recommended that students spend a minimum of 3 hours each week on coursework. Students may choose to complete more hours of work on the course in order to explore the content in more depth.

In this course, participants will examine occupational stress and resilience factors through the lens of occupational science to understand trauma, mental health, and wellness within the occupational environment of first responders. By adopting this perspective, participants will go beyond individual experiences to analyze the workplace and occupational factors influencing the mental well-being of first responders. By the end of this course, participants will be able to critically evaluate mental health and wellness supports and services due to a deeper knowledge of occupational stress and resilience factors impacting first responders.
