Course Description

This module is the second of three in the non-credit, online Sectional Anatomy for Health Professionals course.

Learners will explore anatomy of the Chest, Abdomen and Pelvis with diagrams and images from CT and MRI. The relational aspects between anatomic structures as well as position within the body will be demonstrated in a variety of different anatomic planes. The module includes PowerPoint presentations of the indicated body part consisting of a series of images in multiple planes. This format will allow learners to scroll through a series of images and appreciate the relational nature of the anatomy. Static diagnostic images and diagrams will be available to reinforce localization of the anatomy.

Course Outline

  • Objectives to guide the learner through required goals for each module.
  • PowerPoint presentations of the indicated body parts will be provided which consist of a series of medical images in multiple planes. This format allows the student to scroll through a series of images and appreciate the relational nature of the anatomy.
  • Static diagnostic images and diagrams will reinforce localization of anatomy.
  • Contrast and Compare section will demonstrate anatomy and some common pathology using different imaging modalities.
  • A self test will allow learners to measure their knowledge.
