Course Description

The Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Capstone course is the culminating experience in the Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt program. Over three exciting hands-on days, participants move beyond theory to application—working through a simulated improvement project that integrates all the tools, concepts, and methods learned in the Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control courses.

Facilitated by an experienced Lean Six Sigma practitioner, this in-person workshop brings the DMAIC framework to life through a realistic case study, data sets, and collaborative exercises. Participants will analyze problems, identify root causes, implement solutions, and build sustainable control systems—just as they would in a real organizational setting.

By the end of the course, learners will have demonstrated their ability to apply Lean Six Sigma methods to complex challenges, communicate results effectively, and lead continuous improvement efforts. The capstone also provides structured guidance and exam preparation support for Green Belt certification.

Course Outline

  • Review of key Lean Six Sigma principles and DMAIC tools
  • Team formation, project planning, and problem definition
  • Process mapping and baseline data analysis
  • Root cause analysis and prioritization of improvement opportunities
  • Experimentation, solution design, and pilot testing

  • Apply the DMAIC methodology using appropriate Lean Six Sigma tools and techniques.
  • Analyze process data to identify waste, variation, and root causes.
  • Develop and implement effective, data-driven improvement strategies.
  • Present project findings and recommendations to stakeholders with clarity and confidence.
  • Demonstrate readiness for Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification and organizational project leadership.

Notes

Come ready to collaborate, analyze, and lead. The Capstone Course replicates the real-world environment of a process improvement initiative—fast-paced, data-driven, and results-oriented. Working in teams, you’ll apply your Lean Six Sigma toolkit to tackle a simulated business problem, develop measurable solutions, and demonstrate your ability to drive improvement from start to finish.

This in-person course runs over three consecutive days and uses a mix of team-based project simulations, guided discussions, case studies, hands-on tool practice, and feedback. To demonstrate their applied skills, participants will complete a capstone project, deliver a presentation, and submit an individual reflection.
